Dr. Theodore Brown Sr. is a graduate of Oakwood University, Amberton University and Andrews University. At Oakwood University, Brown is an Associate Professor of Management in the School of Business, and an Adjunct Professor of Leadership in the School of Education at Andrews University. He also serves Oakwood University as the Faculty Exchange Coordinator and Consortium of African Adventist Universities and Partners (CAAUP) Coordinator. Brown also served as an Adjunct Professor of Management at Brookhaven College. Dr. Brown earned the PhD in Leadership with an emphasis in Financial Leadership and Management from Andrews University in 2005, and has taught numerous traditional and online courses in leadership and management. His degree is applied to the research study of the roles, responsibilities and relationships of financial officers in the context of leadership and management in non-profit religious organizations.
Dr. Brown was inducted into the Pi Lambda Theta International Honor Society and Professional Association in Education, and Delta Mu Delta International Honor Society in Business Administration. Significant service include Chairing the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Development Committee for the institution’s re-accreditation process by SACS, Faculty Sponsor for the United Student Movement (4 terms), and Caucus Program Committee Chair for the Academy of Management (two terms). Brown graduated from Oakwood University in 1983 (BS Business Administration/Theology); Amberton University in 1987 (MBA General Business), and 1988 (MBA Management). He is also holds certifications in Stewardship, Taxation, and Estate Planning. Dr. Brown’s professional career includes over 24 years of service in the areas of auditing, accounting, trust services, chief financial officer (CFO)/treasurer, and pastoral ministry for the Southwest Region Conference, Lake Region Conference and South Central Conference. During his 14 year tenure as CFO/Treasurer, Brown achieved unprecedented success in accounting and strategic financial leadership in managing of over a hundred million dollars in two conferences.
Dr. Brown holds membership in numerous professional organizations, and has conducted seminars and workshops in the areas of financial literacy, stewardship, leadership and management throughout the United States and internationally. He is an Ordained Minister in the Seventh-day Adventist Church, and the founder of MoneyCare Financial Ministries, Inc., a community service based organization that focuses on financial literacy, financial empowerment, personal money management and small business consulting. UMI Dissertation Publications. Theodore is married to Vickie D. Hale-Brown who is a nursing professor. The Browns have two young adults, and one teenager. All of their children are products of the Oakwood University’s educational system, and Seventh-day Adventist Christian Education.
